It was back to my news agency roots recently when covering the unveiling and dedication of a local war memorial in Kent.

Brigadier (Retd) Trevor Minter OBE DL represented the Lord- Lieutenant of Kent at the unveiling of a war memorial in Denton, near Canterbury. The memorial commemorates two brothers from the village who died in the First World War and a member of the RAFVR who died in the Second World War as well as two airmen, one Canadian, who died in a mid-air collision nearby in 1944.

The event was attended by 140 guests including Colonel Marc Bigaouette, the Canadian Air Force Advisor to the UK.  Service veterans turned out in strength with 15 standards paraded as well as local cadets and serving representatives of the Army and RAF.

More can be seen on the website of the Lord Lieutenant of Kent.
